Under Our Wing

Trafalgar Falls Dominica, one of the many tour options from Mango Garden Cottages Dominica

The perfect option if you’ve never had an adventure like Dominica.

Welcome to our home.

Welcome to a different kind of holiday.

We’re going to pick you up from the airport or the ferry terminal and bring you and your luggage home to a long cocktail and something delicious to eat.

Relax, you’ve arrived. It’s hot, and it’s wonderful. The dogs are really friendly, the tree frogs are calling and there is nothing to worry about.

This is Dominica. You’re now on island time.

Fresh food from the garden for a light meal at Mango Garden Cottages, featuring freshly caught sushi and local fruits and vegetables with freshly baked bread

Over drinks, we will get to know each other a little and chat about what you’d like to see while you’re here. We’ll make a plan together.

You’ll be our guests for the duration of your stay, but you’ll have your own entirely private level, accessed separately, with your own bedroom, bathroom, living area and balcony.

In the mornings, we will bring you a basket of fresh fruit and freshly made bakery products, fresh coffee or a pot of tea, so you can wake up in peace with the sound of the rainforest. The view is full of beautiful flowers and greenery - the best of the very quiet north of this unique island.

Between breakfast and supper, you have time to do your own thing. There are so many options on this island, depending on what kind of holiday you are hoping for. For some ideas, click here

Incredible snorkelling possibilities off the coast of Dominica - talk to Eddison about this.

Ways to spend your day include…

  • Eddison taking you out for the day (a full day’s touring is included with every 3 days of your stay, but you can book extra days if you wish) - on his boat, on a hike, under a waterfall, through a gorge, to the thermal springs… the options are many! Have a look at www.eddisontours.com for some ideas

  • you can go out exploring by yourself… we can help you organise car rental (not included), or to get around more authentically (and at a very low cost) we will explain how to use the very characterful island minibus network - that way you can really get to know the island from a local’s perspective

  • we can organise a massage, pedicure, manicure, or a full day’s trip to the thermal mineral springs for some full body rejuvenation, Dominican style (not included)

  • we can drop you off locally

    • to explore the beaches and local restaurants;

    • find out about the history at Fort Shirley and the Cabrits National Park;

    • wander into the small local town of Portsmouth, maybe visit the market

    • at the start of a hiking trail, eg the Waitakubuli

      - and of course pick you up again later.

  • If we’re doing something interesting, like driving down to the market in Roseau, we will see if you would like to join us. We love to share our day to day lives with visitors - our life here is probably quite different to yours.

  • We will help you make the most of your stay on Dominica, and show you the things that you’d miss completely if you stayed in a hotel.

We have rescued a few super friendly dogs over the years. Their favourite things are treats (as you can see), chasing lizards and letting you know if someone is walking up the road.
They are very happy, very lucky little dogs :). They won’t come into your area of the house unless you invite them though.

In the evenings, we will eat together, either at home or we will go out, or we might BBQ somewhere.

On Sundays, Eddison hosts the PAYS (Portsmouth Association of Yacht Services) Clubhouse BBQ in Prince Rupert Bay, which is always great fun with all the visiting yachties. He would love to take you with him for some good local food, dancing and very strong rum punch!

Alternatively, we might go out together to experience a bit of the Dominican local nightlife, food and music.

You’re under our wing, and every night will be something different.
